Matthew 25:40

Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.

Special Needs Ministry (Thursday Church)

Thursday Church is a ministry that has been part of Eastridge since the fall of 2009, and is geared towards the mentally and physically handicapped. We provide a church service that meets on Thursday nights (hence the name Thursday Church); the purpose of this ministry is to help those with special needs to know Christ better. Everything we do is aimed at showing the love of Christ to those who, by in large, are ostracized by our society.

We show the love of Christ to these special friends in several ways. Every Thursday, we gather at 5 PM at the church for a worship service. This is the most important part of our ministry—to teach from the Bible about the greatness of God, the glories of Christ, and the salvation that is found only in Him. We also sing praises, pray for one another, and hear testimonies of what the Lord is doing in our lives. Then, from 6 to 7 PM we serve a simple, but good meal which fills the belly.

Pastor Ryan Trzeciak provides pastoral oversight to the ministry. Ray and Naomi Steward, who have been serving Thursday Church for over 15 years, organize the food preparations, lead worship, and minister in ways too numerous to list here.

We are always on the look out for individuals with a heart to serve who are willing to serve these wonderful special needs people. We have many areas where help is needed -- from van drivers, to cooks, to clean up crews, and worship leaders. Come and see how the Lord can use you to minister to "the least of these."

The King will answer and say to them, "Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me."

Ray and Naomi Steward began working with the Thursday Church ministry in 1992. Many who attend Thursday Church are like their own children, as they have ministered to them since the ministry began.

Drivers and Cooks Needed!

The success of our Special Needs Ministry is dependent upon voluteers to provide transportation and cook and serve meals for our friends who attend Thursday Church each week. Meal preparers/servers will provide a meal for approximately 50 people at 6:00 PM on Thursday. Drivers are currently needed to pick up attendees and bring them to Eastridge. Volunteers will need to be at the church by 3:45 PM and will finish by 5:15 PM. No special driver's license is required. For more information on preparing and serving meals, please contact Mark Yarnold at 253-569-3544 or mark.g.yarnold@gmail.com. For information about the transportation, please contact Steve Mozel at 425-413-6070 or smozel@msn.com.
