The following documents are a companion to the three-part Sunday school class taught by Paul Mickelson on how to lovingly minister to Mormons by understanding what they believe and what the Bible really teaches on topics such as salvation, who Jesus is, eternal life, and more. Some of these documents are great tools to print out and have readily available as handouts to give to Mormon missionaries when they come to your door.

LDS History and Doctrine

This document contains the slides that were presented during the two Sunday school classes. Topics covered include:

Which Gospel are You Under?

This document contrasts Mormon beliefs about sin, repentance, forgiveness of sins, and eternal life with the truth of the biblical gospel of Jesus Christ.

 

Who Is Jesus?

The Mormons believe that Jesus is the brother of Lucifer and a created being who is one of many gods while the Bible tells us that Jesus has eternally existed as God and is the creator of Lucipher. This document examines these different beliefs.

 

Important Differences in Terminology

Salvation. Eternal life. Grace. Atonement. Repentance. Mormons and Christians use the same words, but they have different meanings. This document provides a chart that outlines the differences in these critical doctrines.

 

Are There Many Gods?

This document looks at the Mormon doctrine that they can become a god, just like the God of the Bible became a god. The document contrasts this with Bible verses that affirm that God is the only God who has ever existed. No gods have ever been formed before Him, and no gods will ever be formed after Him. From eternal past to eternal future, God is God.

 

Can We Trust The Bible?

This document answers the question, “Has the Bible been accurately preserved over time?” Or, as Joseph Smith would say, has it been carelessly transcribed and now contains errors?

 

How Can I Receive Eternal Life?

This document contrasts the Mormon doctrine of eternal life (faith in Jesus plus adherence to rules and a works-based salvation) with the Bible’s teaching that eternal life is a gift - something that God freely gives to those who trust in Him and is not dependent on our own efforts/works.
